This 1/2 HP Rikon Buffer is perfect for polishing surfaces of woods, metals, plastics, hardware, rocks, jewelry and more! It is excellent for maintainingsharp edges on chisels and blades, putting buffed finishes on woodturnings, or ust keeping other shop hand tools and home furnishings in tip-top, rust-free, polished condition. The long lasting, spiral sewn cloth buffing wheels are positioned on 5-1/2" long shafts to give ample space for maneuvering buffing projects. The Razor Sharp Edgemaking System consists of two 10" compressed paper wheels. One wheel is coated with 180 grit Silicon Carbide and is used to develop a burr or wire-edge along the cutting edge. The included Conditioning Wax (a special formula of fats, oils and waxes) is applied to the grit wheel to lubricate and control heat. The second wheel is slotted and, with the help of the included jeweler's rouge, is used to remove burrs and polish the cutting edge. A grit wheel will sharpen a couple hundred knives before it needs recoating. An additional 3oz container of Silicon Carbide is provided with the kit, enough to recoat the grit wheel 15 to 20 times.
