Product Description
RIKON Power Tools' smaller lathes are ideal machines for novice and occasional woodworkers, and professionals who do not require larger diameter or longer length capacities for their turning projects. Lik their full-size counterparts, these lathes are constructed of cast iron with precision-machined parts. They can turn bowls up to 12-1/2" in diameter and up to 20" spindles. Longer spindles can be turned by adding one or more optional bed extensions (not included). The 70-1218VS Variable Speed MIDI lathe features a powerful 3/4HP motor which provides ample power for all your turning needs, and electronic variable speed controls with a wide range of operating speeds. A digital RMP readout displays the forward rotation speeds, and a pivoting belt cover allows easy access when changing belt speeds. Ball-bearing construction ensures smooth spindle operation, and adjustable locking handles keep all components positioned securely. Operational specifications include the following. Swing capacity: 12" over bed, 9-1/16" over tool rest, and an 18" working distance between centers. Motor: 3/4HP, 4.5 amp, 120V/60Hz, 2,500 RPM. Three operational speed ranges: 450-1,100/960-2,400/1,400-3,500. Headstock/Tailstock: 1" x 8" spindle nose inch x TPI; MT2 headstock and tailstock tapers; 2" RAM travel. Includes spur center, live center, 3" faceplate, 8" tool rest with 1" diameter post, knock-out bar, wrenches and tool holders. NOTE: Lathe motor requires a 3-wire electrical plug to match your electrical receptacles. Comes with a 5-year manufacturer's warranty against defects in materials and workmanship.
