Product Description
Since 2008, Lake Erie Tool Works has been committed to designing high-quality woodworking tools. From the beginning, they chose to focus on helping woodworkers develop sturdy and functional tools for their workbenches. The result was a line of hardwood vise screws and related components. Crafted from solid hard maple, not only are these vise screw kits beautiful to look at, they are incredibly durable and will provide you with years of enjoyment. There are several practical benefits to wood vise screws and components as opposed to steel. The first is rapid movement. Lake Erie's vises move exactly 1" for every two turns of the handle, whereas the same movement requires 4 to 6 turns from most steel vises. Wood vises are lubircated with wax instead of oil or grease, which means no staining or finishing problems on your workpiece. Additionally, Lake Erie's vise screws are a larger 2-1/2" in diameter, which provides significantly more thread surface area than that of a smaller-diameter screw and spreads the clamping load out across a larger area, decreasing the stress on the screw threads and limiting any wear. Lake Erie takes quality control very seriously! From precise humidity control in the manufacturing environment to exceptionally high standards for the wood they purchase and the finishing process on the final product, it all results in the finest possible tool for your workbench. The Standard Wood Shoulder Vise Screw Kit includes the following: one 14" long shoulder vise screw with a 9" threaded shaft; one extended nut (2-3/4" thick x 4" wide x 26"-28"); one threded-knob handle; brass connector plate; and all necessary assembly hardware. All wooden components are made of solid maple. Made in the USA.
