The RIKON 34-260 Benchtop X-Y Mortiser is just what you need to drill accurate mortises in your furniture, cabinetry, doors, shutters, and more! Its sliding X-Y axis table gives precision positioning of your work-piece for boring, and front controls move the table either forward and back or side to side along the dual dovetail ways. A front clamp acts as a hold down and pushes your work-piece against the back cast iron fence. Standard features include a powerful 1/2HP motor; a heavy cast iron base, column and adjustable rear fence; dovetail column ways for smooth vertical travel while boring; a long, multi-position handle for greater leverage during operation; adjustable depth and length stops for added drilling control and reliable repeat drilling; and a convenient tool rest for quick access to chisels and tools. RIKON has included many safety features in this mortiser as well. Piston-assist feed return regulates the plunge and release speed for added safety; a front hold down clamp secures your work-piece in place while chisels are withdrawn; the keyed chuck features a guard; and the safety on/off switch features a removable security tab. The X-Y Mortiser is designed to accommodate a 1" chisel shank and includes 5/8" and 3/4" bushings. Maximum mortising depth is 3", and the maximum stock dimensions are 3-1/2" wide and 6-5/8" thick. Includes 1/4", 5/16", 3/8" and 1/2" chisel and drill bits, and 5/8" and 3/4" bushings. Comes with a 5-year manufacturer's warranty against defect of materials and workmanship.
